Why I like Wine Festivals
I love a good wine festival. I mean, it’s such a great way to experience all sorts of wines, and it’s almost like a continuous party that lasts a couple of weeks (or even just a long weekend). And we all know how much I like a good party!
Of course, as everyone gets loosened up at the festival, just like at a party, you start to get the “real” story about what people really think about you. Jerry, who brings me to these great events, says a wine festival is just like a focus group because you have so many people who enjoy wine and aren’t afraid to tell you what they really think. But that just gives us more information to work from – we like to listen to our customers because then we know what works and what doesn’t.
The other great thing about festivals is there are so many different varietals, wineries and winemakers available, you can get a great sense of the personality behind the wine. It starts to make wine less intimidating (I can’t think of anyone less intimidating than me! Except when I get into a little bit of trouble….) and more enjoyable.
I’m excited to be a part of the Winter Wine Festival at the Wentworth by the Sea tomorrow night. Please come see me if you haven’t already made plans to do so (you can check it out here). We’re going to be turning the sound up with a Fat Tuesday themed dinner with the 106 Restaurant – and what can be more perfect than a little spicy food and a wine that will spice up your life!
If you have been to the festival, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
